The band and concert party ensemble formed in 1963, renamed African Brothers Band International responsible for the popularization of Guitar Highlife, a variant of the authentic Ghanaian Highlife sound and introducing Afro Reggae.
The ensemble of talented instrumentalists led by the legendary Nana Kwame Ampadu influenced the sound with a unique fusion of stirring sound distinctive to Ghanaian musical instruments with rock and reggae bits along with rhythmic electric guitar riffs.
Nana Kwame Ampadu’s captivating vocals on these mesmerizing rhythms, characterized by relatable stories of love, unity, dismay and guidance, incite pleasurable and unforgettable moments for listeners and concert attendees.
In 1967, their single “Ebi Ti Tie” became a commercial success. Furthermore released 400 singles within ten years.
And toured various cities in Africa, the United States, Canada and Europe with their influential, striking and vibrant sound along with a glamorous fashion to accompany their Showmanship.
Amongst the hundreds of songs released, by the African Brothers Band International, Agatha, opening the Agatha Album, released in 1981 remains a vibrant song in neighbouring Nigeria, especially amongst Igbos, who are commended for their immense love for the sound.
